Transitions

Another thing suggested by our teacher was that at the beginning, instead of just cutting from each scene, to use a transition in time with the music. the music at the beginning is very slow and graduates to getting faster so any 'fancy' transitions like the wiping effect would look wrong and amatuer. This is the best example I could find of fade/dissolve, and I thought using this effect would look best because it is also slow and may flow more.
