Looking at the structure of music videos- What's a girl to do?
What's a girl to do? by Bat for Lashes demonstrates the idea of disjuncture. The artist is riding a bike through a forest with people in animal costumes following behind her. They appear from behind her when the chorus kicks in and disappear during the verses. She is both a participant in the video as well as the narrator telling the story. She is singing throughout the video, and all the focus in on her because she is leading the bike ride and is placed in the centre. I would say the ratio of narrative to performance would be 50:50.
