Here below is just a quick analysis of three different
digipaks that have the same genre as Alex Claire “Too Close” which is dub-step and alternative rock and soul.
Coldplay
” paradise”
The background
of Coldplay paradise is what
appears to be graffiti sprayed on the wall consisting of a lot of vibrant colors with the band’s name“Coldplay” on it. There are clearly no pictures of
the band on the front or back cover therefore making it difficult for people to
actually purchase products like this due to the isolation of the band on the
front cover.
We tend to associate the color blue to being very cold
and icy (a bit carm). The color blue becomes dynamic
and dramatic, an engaging color that expresses exhilaration
The font used is similar to graffiti style it’s
big and bold. There are only two words on the front cover as well.
There is
a distinctive color theme of blue tones. I would say the theme of the album cover is possibly
teenage rebelling. We associate teenagers as being vibrant and stylish.
Florence
and machine “say my name"
Despite
the text being small for this album cover it brings peoples full focus to
Florence, the artist. I think it's really clever how they have the album name along
her sides as if it’s pushing her forward. The multi colored background doesn't
draw any focus away from the artist. The white dress could symbolism the pure side of her. The way her eyes are closed and her hand almost stroking
her face makes her come across as cheeky or mischievous. Her hair is very
neat and wispy which oozes sex appeal. The camera angle is a medium shot so it
looks like we are looking from her waist and above, however she doesn't looks
at the camera which is a bit distracting. The album cover is very bold and
striking and really catches your eye. Her makeup is also bold, with bright red
lipstick just highlights that the theme of the album could be sex appeal. The
image she portrays is one of a fierce and hot woman.
Muse" time is running out"
Each
member looks very similar in this, as if they are clones, with the same suit color and body language like a salute, same amount of skin showing but
different hair styles. There are 18 people (assuming 9 men and 9 women) on the
cover, all in the band but as dancers and performers. The connotation within
this album is that they are all the same or very similar people,
maybe thoughts on conformity. The font used is very thin yet bold, and the color scheme is fairly simple, with grey and white tones. After studying the
image I don't feel the photo relates to the album title however maybe there is
a deep hidden meaning. They are all saluting around the table.
